"Each one of us here today will at one time in our lives look upon a loved one who is in need and ask the same question: “We are willing to help Lord, but what, if anything is needed. For it is true we can seldom help those closest to us. Either we don’t know what part of ourselves to give, or more often than not, the part we have to give is not what is needed...
...And so it is those we live with and should know who elude us. But we can still love them. We can love completely without complete understanding." ~A River Runs Through It

aaah! You beat me to it! ;) It really is a thought-provoking and well said quote. Thanks for sharing it!
That is a good quote. I haven't seen that movie in years!
Was googling on norman's quote randomly when i came acrossyour blog.Good that you have posted this one instead of'i am haunted by waters' for i find that one sorrowful and it finds me with a sense of loss at not being able to give anything to the man who wrote that book, who is now dead and whom i never met.But i am haunted by his words for i too can love without complete understanding and much like his case that part is not wanted..
